The Meigs County Health Department is responsible for licensing and inspecting any Food Service Operations (restaurants, bars, schools, institutions, etc.), Retail Food Establishments (grocery stores, markets, pizza places, convenient stores, and gas stations), Mobile Food Services (food trailers and stands), Vending (vending machines with perishable food), and Temporary Food Services (food service that sets up for only a short time period).
New rules from Ohio Department of Health have said it is now OK to take the Certified Food Protection Manager or CFPM (Level 2) course work online from ServSafe. The test must still be taken in person; i.e. “proctored”. If you would like to have your test proctored, this can be arranged. The cost for proctoring a test is $50.00.
You can go to the ServSafe website at https://www.servsafe.com/ and take the online course work for the CFPM (Level 2) course under the ‘ServSafe Manager’ tab or the Food Handler (Level 1) course under the ‘ServSafe Food Handler’ tab.
There are other in-person courses held in surrounding counties. To see a list of approved providers of the food safety courses in Ohio, visit the following link: http://www.healthspace.com/Clients/Ohio/Ohio_Website_Live.nsf/FoodCertifications.xsp
