MCHD Funding In Action

Projects and Successes in Meigs County:

  • Continued promotion of a Complete Street policy in Pomeroy, which aims to support inclusion of all modes of transportation. Several pedestrian crossing signs and paint to help encourage pedestrian safety and awareness for W. 2nd street and Court Street.
  • General Hartinger Park was upgraded with paved access that surrounds the baseball fields. This paved trail is an added benefit for the community, especially those with mobility issues.

  • Bike racks and a repair station installed at the Pomeroy Levee to support and encourage biking in the community.

  • Cedar raised garden beds, rain barrels, and standing decks were purchased and installed in  Rutland’s Community Garden.
  • Forked Run State Park received three new water bottle fillers. These water bottle fillers will be placed near local trails to attract visitors and to encourage visitors to stay hydrated during outdoor activities.
  • Chester’s United Methodist Church has received two new outdoor basketball systems and assistance with funds for resurfacing the court. This project will provide a safe and durable area for the community to engage in healthy activities.  More information below.
